Quemahoning Section
This section contains the Quemahoning Lake Family Recreation Area, which offers resources everyone can enjoy. The Oven Run wetlands and nature trail demonstrates why The Stonycreek is coming back to life. And there’s milder Class I-II water in this portion of the river, which runs through the friendly towns of Hooversville, Benson and Hollsopple.

Canyon Section
The Stonycreek goes wild here with 15 Class III-IV rapids within four miles, some Class II-III water further downriver and the popular Whitewater Park. Greenhouse Park hosts some of the year’s best parties. And National Register Historic Districts in Windber and Scalp Level tell fascinating stories about the times when The Stonycreek Corridor contained one of the most-productive coalfields in the nation.
